THE POSITION

The Inbound Content Specialist evangelizes content strategy best practices and facilitates content alignment and efficiency through a centralized, consolidated and coordinated methodology for content lifecycle management. This role develops and implements the brand publishing approach required to build

  • digital authority,
  • audience credibility,
  • inbound traffic around a core brand and industry topics.

This role achieves success with brand credibility by aligning content creation to support engagement with target audiences and related keyword universes.

The Inbound Content Specialist owns the development of an editorial calendar and the creation of related primary and derivative content to support the publishing frequency required to build inbound traffic and engagement. For this, the role is responsible for publishing content to the corporate websites, building and testing landing pages, and activating content through organic and paid social tactics. The Inbound Content Specialist also maintains one or more blogs as publications that build digital authority.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Use audience insights, personas, keyword research, messaging themes, campaign plans, competitive information and content performance analytics to build an editorial calendar and create related content
  • Conduct a first-time content audit for owned and third-party Web sites, customer portals, partner portals and internal data repositories; perform annual content audits and oversee ongoing maintenance of content library
  • Perform gap analyses on how the content inventory maps to internal and external audiences, along with their specific journey requirements
  • Create a steady stream of primary and derivative asset types that can be leveraged across various channels and use cases
  • Engage and collaborate with cross-functional participants (e.g. portfolio marketing, digital marketing, SEO, public relations, graphic design, agencies, freelancers) as needed to support content ideation, creation, activation and measurement requirements
  • Manage meeting and resource schedules, workflows and deadlines associated with content marketing activities
  • Execute keyword research and define a keyword universe that aligns with audience needs, business priorities and inbound traffic goals, collaborating with a search engine optimization (SEO) contractor as needed
  • Publish and activate content within a Web content management system or other tools
  • Contribute to SEO and search engine marketing initiatives with keyword optimization, content tagging and metadata management
  • Collaborate with other functions to gather the information needed to optimize content asset creation, performance and measurement
  • Implement, support and evangelize content marketing practices
  • Collaborate with marketing program owners and campaign managers to integrate and repurpose content marketing and campaign content where appropriate
  • Collect, analyze and report on content marketing success via standard content marketing–related KPIs, using Web analytics tools, marketing automation platforms, social media management tools, content marketing software and business intelligence platforms to inform and optimize ongoing content marketing efforts
  • Other duties assigned as needed 


Skills and Abilities 

  • Ability to develop didascalic subject matter expertise that aligns with core coverage topics
  • Excellent research and interviewing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new business domain knowledge to content strategy and asset creation
  • Ability to understand, digest and articulate complex concepts for mass consumption via engaging content
  • Ability to work in a Web content management system
  • Ability to tag and link content for SEO
  • Proficient in promoting content via organic and paid social media
  • Proofreading and copyediting skills (for brand voice, style, grammar and punctuation)
  • Ability to negotiate conflict and maintain constructive working relationships with people at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent strategic thinking and structured problem-solving skills
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks with changing priorities
  • Ability to work and think independently and ensuring to meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Must have clear and professional communication skills (written and oral) both internally and externally
  • Effective communication and interaction with employees, clients, and colleagues and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated customer service focus and client communication skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Proficient with Gsuite (Doc, Sheets), Hubspot and Keynote


Education and/or Experience 
 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, marketing, media or communications
  • 1 or more years of B2B content marketing experience with proven ability to leverage social media to seed demand, search engine optimization/search engine marketing (SEO/SEM), association marketing and content syndication
  • Complex project management experience
  • Related market/industry experience desirable
  • Domain/product category experience desirable
  • Experience in a startup and/or simple matrix business environment is desirable
  • Experience developing and implementing business processes and streamlining operations
